Hummingbirds can only be found in the Americas, so we have the unique privilege of being able to watch hummingbirds. Here are a few care tips for your hummingbird feeder, so that your hummingbirds will keep coming back.
The first tip is to make sure to clean your hummingbird feeder regularly. Try to clean it once a week in cooler weather and twice a week in warmer weather. You may be surprised at how fast your hummingbird feeder will grow mold and collect dirt. This can be very dangerous for hummingbirds, and can even harm their babies. If your hummingbird feeder did not come with a cleaning brush, you can use a bottle brush or even a pipe cleaner to clean your feeder.
Another tip is to make your own food for your hummingbird feeder. You do not need to buy expensive hummingbird food. You can heat up, but do not boil, a solution of one part sugar to four parts water until the sugar is dissolved. Then allow the solution to cool and then add it to your feeder. Also, you do not need to add any food coloring, nectar in nature is clear.
These are just a few tips to help you to keep your hummingbirds healthy and to keep returning to your hummingbird feeder.
