Having a home with wood siding might be beautiful, but are you aware of all the problems that can come with it? Since wood is a natural material, it also faces many problems from the environment in which it is installed. Wood can be attacked by a wide range of wood-destroying insects, and these can quickly damage it to the point where it has to be replaced. On top of that, insects inside of your siding can attract woodpeckers which would then do further damage.

Wood siding also needs to be treated with a fire retardant to lessen the risk of fire. If wood siding is exposed to water, there is a risk of wood rot and mold that could damage your home as well. This is why you want to keep bushes trimmed back so as to avoid moisture buildup.

All this said, it is a material that is renewable, so it is good for the environment, and it does have a very nice appearance.
