Some people may think that it’s okay to put all food into your garbage disposal. There are some foods that you should avoid putting into your garbage disposal. Here are a few of those foods.
The first food most people know is not a good idea to put into your garbage disposal is cooking grease and fat. Once this grease or fat cools, it can cling to your garbage disposal causing blockages. So once the grease or fat cools, just scrap it off into the garbage. Another food to avoid that you may not think about is coffee grounds. When coffee grounds get ground small and get wet, they can form a thick paste. This thick paste can plug and cause damage to your garbage disposal. Vegetable peels are another food that you should avoid. Potato, onion, or carrot peels can slip between the garbage disposal grinders’ causing major blockages in your pipes and other major problems. The last food you should avoid is dry expandable foods. Dry expandable foods in small amounts are normally okay for your garbage disposal. In large quantities, once these foods get wet can expand and also cause blockages. So you also may want to trash large amounts of dry expandable foods into the garbage.
These are just a few examples of foods to avoid putting into your garbage disposal.
