Have you been looking at new electric heaters for your home? If so, you may have seen baseboard electric heaters. Here is what a baseboard electric heater is and a little about how it works.
A baseboard electric heater is a short but long electric heating unit that is normally hardwired right into the home’s existing electrical wiring. These baseboard heaters are normally installed near ground level around the baseboard. This is where the name baseboard electric heater gets its name. Some baseboard electric heater units can be plugged into a standard electrical outlet.
The hydronic or convection process is how these baseboard heaters produce heat. Hydronic heaters have an electric heating element that warms an internal liquid reservoir that is surrounded by metal fins. Most baseboard heaters use the convection process. Convection heaters also have metal fins. These fins heat the air near the ground into warm air. This warm air then rises and spreads throughout the room.
Hydronic baseboard heaters are considered to be more energy efficient. Convection baseboard heaters have a wider range of sizes and power ranges. There are also more convection baseboard heater plug-in units available.
This is just some information to familiarize yourself with baseboard electric heaters.
